Covers the Wheelhouse Visual Studio extension, its MCP server, and this website.

The extension and its MCP server

Wheelhouse collects no usage data. The extension and its MCP server send no telemetry, analytics or crash reports, and never send your code or your conversations anywhere. Apart from the licence check below, they talk only to things on your own computer: Visual Studio, over a named pipe restricted to your Windows account, and the Claude Code command-line tool you have installed.

The licence check

To run the free trial and licences, the extension contacts this site when Visual Studio starts and every few hours after that. Each check sends:

  • an anonymised machine id: a one-way hash of your Windows installation's id and your Windows account's id, from which neither can be recovered;
  • your computer's name, so that whoever manages a team licence can tell its computers apart;
  • your licence key, if you have entered one;
  • the version of Wheelhouse.

The site keeps, for each machine id, when its trial started and when it last checked in; for each licence, which computers are using it. That is used only to run trials and licences. Nothing else about you or your work is sent.

When you run a Claude Code session, whether in the Wheelhouse panel or in a terminal, Claude Code sends your prompts and whatever code and tool results the session involves to Anthropic. That happens under your agreement with Anthropic and its privacy policy, not this one; Wheelhouse does not add to it or receive a copy.

On your computer, Wheelhouse writes:

  • its MCP server and scripts, to %LOCALAPPDATA%\Programs\vs-claude-mcp;
  • its registration, through Claude Code, into ~/.claude.json;
  • a marked usage-guidance block into ~/.claude/CLAUDE.md;
  • a diagnostic log, %TEMP%\vs-claude-mcp-bridge.log, capped at 2 MB, which stays on your computer;
  • its licence file and key, in %LOCALAPPDATA%\VsClaudeMcp\licence.json.

This website

Browsing this site sets no tracking or advertising cookies and uses no analytics. The web server keeps standard request logs (address, time, page), used only to keep the site running and secure.

When you buy a licence, payment is taken by Stripe, the seller of record, under its own privacy policy; this site never sees your card details. Stripe tells the site your name, email address and the number of seats, which the site keeps to issue and manage your licence and to send you the key.

When you report an issue, the site stores what you enter: the summary, description, the versions you give and, if you choose to give it, your email address. When you use the contact form, it stores your name, email address and message. That information is used only to answer you and to fix Wheelhouse. It is not sold, shared or used for marketing. Email about it goes through the site's mail provider.

An issue's status page can be read only with its link, which contains a random access key. The site sets a cookie only if you sign in as its administrator, plus the anti-forgery cookie that protects its forms.

Issue reports and messages are kept while they are useful for supporting Wheelhouse. To have yours deleted or corrected, or to ask what is held about you, use the contact form or email wheelhouse@mountainstar.co.uk.
